Things wrap up nicely in this final episode, with pretty much everything explained. Taking turns that we didn’t expect. It could slide right into the first movie without a second season.
We would recommend this series.
Spoilery Synopsis
So Pam finishes telling her story to Lev and Brianna. They show her the file that Landau sent to Brianna. He threatens to arrest her for her own protection, and credits roll.
Harmony is still taking the fall for all those murders in Crystal Lake. Elias shows up in town and talks to some locals, including Rita. He gives all the women the skeeze, but Enos tells him where Pam lives. Rita talks to Dorf about the stranger in town.
Lev explains why he’s in Crystal Lake, a corruption thing that he was sorta guilty of. She wants both of them to run away together, but then Elias shows up. Lev questions him about his missing wife with psychiatric issues. Elias calls in the goons, who surround Lev.
Pam comes out of hiding to save Lev. Dorf shows up, and there’s a shootout. Lev gets shot, Dorf goes after Pam, who’s been grabbed by the baddies.
Elias wants Jason back, he doesn’t believe he’s dead. They soon learn that he’s not when Jason, in a white hood, jumps into the road. Pam gets out of the car and runs into the woods, and the Bellflower men go after her. Jason, with his ch-ch-ch effect in full force, follows them.
Elias says he was only trying to get Jason to his full potential. Jason shows up to the family reunion, fully grown now. Elias takes the bag off Jaason’s head, and we see that it is Jason. Pam tells Jason that Elias wants to lock him away and hurt him. Jason puts his hands on Elias’s face and smooshes his entire head.
Pam apologizes to Jason for not being there when he needed her, and he chokes her. Halfway through, he remembers the good times and releases her.
Suddenly, Ralph shoots Jason in the head, but Jason doesn’t die easily and runs away. She warns him to stay away from the lake and camp forever, since Jason is strong now. Pam laughs maniacally.
Another group of teenagers sit around the campfire and tell stories about Jason. Then they hear something out in the woods…
Brian’s Commentary
And that explains pretty much everything we ever wanted to know about Jason and his strength and recuperative powers. Storywise, everything has been building to this point, with our heroes Pam and Jason taking out the actual baddies, which is an unexpected turn. We get to see Jason without his mask, and with his full bag-mask from the second film (the hockey mask didn’t appear until the third film).
There’s not a real wrapup, so they could continue on with another season if they chose, but I have no idea where they’d go with it. We know Pam’s ultimate fate from the end of the first film, but there are still things she could do.
This was definitely worth the time. Now I want to see the first few films in the series again!
Kevin’s Commentary
Trauma makes him stronger, as we learned in the last episode. Jason that is. Which explains quite a bit.
It felt strange to end up rooting for Jason and Pam by the end of the series. That wasn’t where I expected things to go. And I liked that there’s what appears to be a happy ending for Dorf and Rita.
I’m someone who saw the first movie in 1980 at the theater when it came out. I’m trying to imagine what it would be like for someone who hasn’t seen any of the movies yet, seeing this series then watching the first movie afterward. It would be a very different experience.
I was very pleased with this series. And I’d be fine with them stopping with just the one season, not a second. But they could; it was left open for that.
