Dead and Breakfast: Synopsis

In the basement of the Spinster house, 1939, old lady Spinster killed a man with an axe. Today, the house is just a creepy bed and breakfast. It’s the “Spinster Murder House.” All the other murder houses are fully booked, but they can’t get any clients. They decide to invite some “influencers” to stay at the house.

Morgan/Morgue comes and does the influencer thing, live streaming. There are steel panels in the walls, and those hurt the WiFi. They never found the bodies. Morgue has done a lot of research on serial killers, and she’s really skeptical that any murders ever really happened there. Owner Pam takes it very seriously, while brother Sam is a little more down to Earth.

The next morning, Morgue wants to search for the bodies that were never found, and she’s got the electronic toys to do it. They find hidden bottles under the steps and a safe behind the wall. The safe has nothing in it but an old sewing machine. Morgue is convinced that old lady Spinster never killed anyone.

Morgue then finds a secret passage. She overhears Pam talk about giving her a good scare that night. ˇthey argue, and Pam goes after her with an axe… for real. There’s quite a chase, and Morgue is live-streaming the whole time. Pam murders Morgue, and the reservation numbers start rising. Sam then kills Pam on the camera.

One year later, they’re book up many, many months in advance. Sam finds the actual original dead bodies.

Commentary

Nothing is more annoying than influencers, and this segment proves it. Not even axe murdering crazy people can deal with live streamers. Everyone knows the really good horror fun is found in podcasts.

Pesticide: Synopsis

Harley King the exterminator is a bit of a jerk, and he annoys Brenda they psychologist. He pours a jar of roaches on her floor.

On his next call, it’s a big empty factory. Mr. Murdoch has called, “You come highly recommended,” says Murdoch. He offers to buy Harley a new truck if he can take care of a few problems for him. He wants to renovate the property, but he can’t until his infestation problem is solved. The place is occupied by squatters, and Murdoch wants them removed.

Is extermination just another form of murder for hire? Murdoch says it is, and Harley takes the job. He sneaks back there in the dead of night and ends up killing one of the homeless and poisoning their soup.

That night, Harley has nightmares. The next morning, all the homeless are dead; they ate the soup. He keeps having nightmares and hallucinations of bugs.

He goes back to Dr. Brenda for help, and he wants to tell her everything. She blames sleep deprivation. She puts him to sleep, and when he wakes up, he’s the size of a bug. She kills him like a roach; she’s had trouble with roaches recently. Then Murdoch comes to the door dressed in an exterminator outfit.

Commentary

I didn’t care for this one. “An exterminator kills people and feels guilt.” Is fine, but it’s not a whole story in itself.
