Darkness Falls
Darkness Falls

In the prologue, Matilda Dixon was an old woman who gave children gifts for missing teeth. At some point in her life, she was badly burned and started wearing a porcelain mask over her face. One evening, two children went missing. The strange old woman was blamed, and the townspeople of Darkness Falls gathered together to lynch her. She cursed the town as she hung there, and just as she died, the two missing children were found in the back of the crowd.

Now, whenever a child in Darkness Falls loses his or her last tooth, the “Tooth Fairy” comes. If they see her, she kills them.

Twelve years ago, Kyle saw her, and the Tooth Fairy killed his mother. Without any other evidence, Kyle is blamed and institutionalized in another state.

Today, Kaitlin’s little brother, Michael has exactly the same story that Kyle used to tell. Kaitlin calls Kyle and tells him about her little brother. Kyle comes to town and faces his past. In the meantime, the Tooth Fairy kills everyone at the police station and local hospital. The survivors decide to hole up in the local lighthouse, a gas-powered relic that hasn’t been used in years.

Will they survive?

This is a very short film, at 86 minutes. Everything you need in a story is there, and it doesn’t feel rushed or stretched out. The characters are well-acted and the plot is pretty straightforward, without twists. If you’re looking for a generic horror film that is competent on all levels without being outstanding, this is a good choice.
