Synopsis

A vampire walks into a church and demands “the ashes.” Two nuns refuse him, and he kills them both, but apparently reads one’s mind first. He finds a secret room and gets the ashes.

A guy picks up a hooker and they go to her house. She goes to the bathroom, and he pulls out some surgical tools. Surprisingly, she cuts his throat and drinks his blood. Some guy bursts in demanding to know “Where is Demetrius?” He nails her hands to the floor and when she mouths off to him one time too many, he stakes her.

We switch scenes to a dimly-lit bar where the “ashes” vampire leads a girl out to his car. He starts to suck her dry just as the the hunter-guy, whose name is Carl, runs up, shouting, “Demetrius!” Then there is a foot chase, and Demetrius gets away. The dead girl’s friend, Sheila, runs into Carl, and he drives her home, where he meets Sheila’s sister, Clara.

Demetrius goes home to what appears to be a goth club, or maybe all the vampires just wear black and look morbid. His master, the king Wraithwood, demands his respect. He wants the blood of “The Descendants.”

We get various scenes explaining that Carl’s wife was killed, and he’s seeking revenge on Demetrius. He goes to see a drug dealer named “MD” who tells us what a badass Demetrius and Wraithwood are.

A pair of vampires kill some young people in the woods. Carl meets Wraithwood, who explains about the descendants. There are only two descendants left: Shiela and Clara. The blood from these two can resurrect the long-dead Countess.

Demetrius and his girlfriend kill MD and all his friends, because they don’t like Wraithwood and wants to simply kill people for blood, not drink black-market blood.

More stuff happens, and eventually Demetrius has Carl tied up in the lair, while Wraithwood has the blood and the ashes. How will it all end? The white-clad countess makes short work of the goth club vampires while nerdy little Carl overpowers Demetrius and kills him.

Commentary

This is hard to evaluate. If this was a first-time indie filmmaker (and it was), then this was really pretty good for a low-budget indie film. The lighting has issues, but it’s nowhere near as bad as “that one” Game of Thrones episode. You can tell what’s going on, so I can give it a pass. On the other hand, the acting, lighting, and dialogue are pretty awful. The story and soundtrack is actually pretty good for an indie film.

These vampires don’t have fangs; they all use knives to cut their victim’s throats to get the blood. We don’t see them doing anything supernatural; no special speed or strength is ever seen. Wraithwood has fangs, but he also has an accent bought from the renaissance fair, so he may be special .
