Short Film: Bruche (2022)

Synopsis

We open in a church at night, and a girl walks silently through the halls. Iris sees a creepy old nun, but then her friend comes in and says Iris was sleepwalking. They are sleeping in the old church, and sometimes Iris has nightmares. The next morning, they see a photo of that same old nun, who died in 1985.

Iris and her friend are backpacking through Europe, and they come across an old, abandoned mansion. They know they aren’t going to be able to find the village tonight, so they go inside to look around.

It’s an old place, and it’s obviously been empty a long time. That doesn’t mean that they’re alone in there…

Commentary

“Bruche” means “Cracks.” Cracks in the building? Cracks in Iris’s sanity, or cracks in reality? Yes.

The acting here is fine, but what really makes this one stand out is the locations. The old buildings have a life (or death) of their own.
