Synopsis

Evelyn writes a letter to her mother. The furniture is all covered up. We see her cleaning the house, but she says she hasn’t seen the ghost yet, and she’s been there thirteen days.

We flash back to Evelyn and Samantha doing a spelling bee thing for their mother. Evelyn gets a word wrong, so mother locks her in a trunk. For winning, the mother gives Samantha her grandmother’s gown. Clearly, Mother prefers Samantha over Evelyn.

Evelyn talks to her dead sister through the mirror. Evelyn puts on the gown, and the ghost throws her outside. “She can’t be Samantha,” she says to herself. Evelyn really misses Samantha, whose ghost tells her to “Run! Leave!”

Mother and daughter “have it out” after Mother shoots her. Evelyn dies, and Mother wraps up the body. That may not be the end of the story…

Commentary

It’s not always clear which girl is which, or why the Mother prefers one over the other. The mother kills the second daughter in order to have her lead the first daughter into the light? Well, OK.

It’s well acted and looks good, but it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
