Spoiler-Free Judgment Zone
More of the story is told with bear hunting going on, Pam and Lev getting a little closer, and Pam taking care of some issues. It was all needed to progress the story, but we both thought it was on the slow side. Not the best episode so far, but it had a good finish.
Spoilery Synopsis
Grace runs through the woods as young Jason chases her. He’s got a big cut on his arm but says it doesn’t hurt. They find an abandoned barn and want to check it out. He talks about using it as their fortress; there’s even a secret trapdoor in the floor. This is going to be a secret place just for them.
In the present, Grace wakes up in that little barn, spending the night there after the previous night’s teenage party. Credits roll.
In town, Enos talks to Dorf and Rita about the body parts in the woods. Dorf can’t keep a secret, and now everyone knows about it.
Lev comes over and helps Pam pack up Jason’s room. They find a Playboy behind a drawer. They get a little closer over dinner.
Ralph, out in the woods, has a Nam flashback. Back at his home, someone steals some clothes.
Lev gets a call about an abandoned car, and he finds blood in the trunk. It belongs to those two guys who tried to kidnap Pam. Pam hears about this and panics for a bit.
Claudette and Grace argue about her near-attack last night. Grace doesn’t know anything about the attack, but gets sent to the principal’s office. She gets suspended, and Pam watches her abusive mother picking her up.
Lev confronts all the town’s hunters preparing to go bear hunting. He sends them all home, but there’s some tension there. They all go anyway.
Grace talks to Pam about the things that Claudette has done.
The hunting in the woods goes badly for Eno, who gets shot in the neck. The last thing he sees is Jason.
Pam confronts Grace’s mother, Valerie, at work that night. Grace is rude and mean and isn’t listening. The meat tenderizer does the talking that really matters. Then, she burns the place to the ground.
Later, we see that Grace was hurting herself; it wasn’t really the mother.
Brian’s Commentary
More developments in the story, but not much new about Pam’s past. This was all necessary from stuff we saw before, but it’s more development than anything else. It was OK.
Kevin’s Commentary
We get more hints right off the bat that Jason wasn’t just odd-looking when he was alive – he wasn’t normal.
It’s good, but things are moving slower than I’d like. I started puttering around with other things on my computer while this episode was on because I was feeling like I wouldn’t miss much. Not a good sign.
But there was still enough there to keep my interest overall. And the finish was good.
