Spoiler-Free Judgment Zone

We’re into 1972 now. The story progresses as we find more about Lev, the sheriff, and his sister, as well as some of the other regulars. Pam goes to a self-help seminar that doesn’t go smoothly. And more stuff happens. It becomes clear this is more complex than just a straight up slasher film, but the elements are there. We both thought this was right on the edge of stretching things out a bit too much. We’ll have to see how the next one goes.

Spoilery Synopsis

Lev comes out to the camp, where Pam is out on the lake in a rowboat. She dreams of a big man-monster jumping out of the water in a scene just like the ending of the first film. Credits roll.

Nora calls Pam on the phone; she knows Pam’s true history and warns her that more men will be coming looking for her.

Grace talks to Pam as well, and she misses Jason, too. Pam is now the lunch lady at school. Grace overhears some gossip and plans to crash a party.

Pam apologizes to Lev about yesterday. She asks him if there’s been any excitement, but he says no. He invites her to go bowling, and she says yes. Rita comes over and gets friendly with Pam; they;re friends now. Rita invites her to some kind of seminar out of town that might be a good change for her.

Some boys and their dog find human remains in the woods. Lev and Deputy Dorf come in and decide it was a bear attack.

Pam and Rita go to the seminar, and the doors are locked; they can’t leave. Wilhelm runs the class, and he’s a jerk. He singles out Pam to embarass in front of the crowd. She demonstrates that she used to be a singer, but he’s still an ass. He insists that she goes through her entire life trying to avoid being seen for what she really is. He wants her to embrace her true, authentic self.

Lev and Brianna argue about why he quit being a cop in the big city. He’s also got the human remains in his fridge; the coroner doesn’t open until Monday.

Pam has drinks with Wilhelm, the jerky teacher, and tells him all about Jason. He tells her the only way to move on is to stop running. They wind up back in his hotel room for sex, and all she sees is the bear from the previous episode.

In class the next day, Wilhelm walks Pam through releasing her pain. She flashes back to Argonaut and starts screaming.

Back at the camp, a bunch of teenagers are there talking about the camp reopening. Grace is there, but she’s too young for all this. She and Claudette argue about their parts in Jason’s death. Grace leaves in anger, but someone watches her from the woods.

Pam is about to kill Wilhelm with a bowling ball, but another angry client beats her to it.

Lev, knowing the medical examiner is a quack, autopsies the human remains himself, and he finds that it’s not just a bear attack.

Meanwhile, back at the camp, Claudette and Larry see Jason in the woods.

Brian’s Commentary

The whole story with Wilhelm feels a lot like filler. Lev and the human remains don’t get the attention they need. Is Lev going to have a new hobby in every episode?

It was a good episode, but I’m wondering if they’re going to be dragging out the story lines too much.

Kevin’s Commentary

I thought the self-help seminar was good, helping Pam’s story along. No new kills this time, but they are coming. This one was right on the edge of filler, but not quite there yet. Hopefully they don’t milk things out too much and spoil it.
